Dr. Lalam outlines key areas for Dokolo as she gives 2026 another shot

Dr. Lalam

Lira | Dr. Lalam Anna Grace Atine, who attempted to run for the Dokolo district woman Member of Parliament by-election earlier this year but had to withdraw, has dismissed reports that she will run for the Dokolo North MP seat in 2026.

However, she stated that she will run for the district woman MP seat in 2026.

On June 3, she addressed the press in Lira City and revealed her political ambitions.

Too ambitious to win the current seat held by UPC Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, Lalam stated that she intends to carry the torch of her constituents’ interests to the Parliament of Uganda during the upcoming legislative sessions (2026-2031).

She stepped down for Janet Elau two days before election day, with Elau hoping to replace the Iron Lady Cecilia Atim Ogwal.

Some NRM party insiders assert that their voters became disorganised when she resigned the day before the election.

Dr. Lalam believes she is well-positioned to effectively represent Dokolo’s voices and concerns in the legislative House.

She outlined her legislative agenda for the residents of Dokolo, which includes:

  • Enhancing access to quality education and healthcare
  • Promoting economic empowerment and entrepreneurship
  • Improving infrastructure development and road networks
  •  Advocating for social justice and human rights

According to sources close to the former candidate, Dr. Lalam has quietly rebuilt her political network and strategized her next move.

She has been leveraging her experience and grassroots connections to mount a strong campaign for political office in the upcoming election.
