Lira | At the closing of the Lira Urban Mothers’ Union Convention on Thursday, May 9, 2024, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero was represented at St. Peter’s Church of Uganda, Ireda.
The convention started on May 5, 2024, and the theme was taken from the Holy Book of Romans 12:1-2.
tndNews understands that more than 1,600 women attended the convention.
The Minister of Health who also doubles as Lira City woman MP was represented by her advisor, Madam Emma Okite.
MP Dr. Aceng thanked mothers for being “honest, hardworking, and trustworthy.” She encouraged them to put what they learned at the convention into practice.
She also encouraged mothers to rally other women to join the noble movement, thanking mothers for their “overwhelming love for her,” and urging them to take good care of their health.
Dr. Aceng advised mothers to have regular medical checkups, particularly for cervical cancer and breast cancer screenings.

Furthermore, the City woman MP assured mothers of “her vision for 2026 and reminded them to be at home as their wait to be counted.”
“The census is a very important event,” she said, urging mothers to provide accurate information to enumerators when they visit their homes so that the government can plan appropriately for them.
When her shs2 million cash donation to support the mothers’ cause was given out, everyone cheered together.
MP Dr. is committed to improving the general well-being of Lira City residents and has allocated resources to WASH, women’s and youth enterprises, including education, among other things.
