Lira City residents welcome ARCCs Alele, Otucu

Lira City

Lira | Last month, the Office of the President appointed dozens of NRM party cadres as Assistant RCCs and RDCs.

Assistant RCCs or RDCs are responsible for assisting Resident District Commissioners and Resident City Commissioners at their respective duty stations.

However, as highlighted by the Minister for Presidency Milly Babalanda, the Assistants are tasked with mobilising the population to support various government programmes, combating corruption, and promoting patriotism.

On Thursday, tndNews spoke with one of Lira City’s Assistant RCCs, Bonny Okello Alele, who shared plans for the people they will serve.

“This is an opportunity for me to serve my country, specifically the people of Lira City, in the areas of patriotism, anti-corruption, and mobilisation,” he stated.

Alele promised: “I thank President Museveni for trusting me, and am ready to make the NRM government proud and the people of Lira City even prouder; it is about service delivery.”

Assistant RCC Okello Alele stated that he is not new to mobilisation and patriotism. He is well-known among Church youth and elders for his aggressive mobilisation and mentoring abilities.

Alele, a key member of the Diocese of Lango, is well-known for mobilising young people for annual camps and conventions.

“I believe the appointing authority felt it necessary to recruit him to serve his country. Omara Bosco, a boda boda rider, expressed confidence in Alele’s performance on Friday.

Alele also has extensive experience in the NGO sector, having worked as a senior executive for the ADINA Foundation.

“Every institution we work for or with broadens our knowledge of dealing with people of different backgrounds, and I gained this knowledge while working with CSOs, non-governmental organisations, and other sectors.

“I am prepared to use all of my knowledge and experience to complete the job successfully, in collaboration with my colleague Bonny Otucu and our senior RCC Emmy Lawrence Egole.”

Otucu, along with Alele, will report to RCC Egole, with whom they are extremely friendly.

Both Alele and Otucu praised their senior, Egole for great experience and strong leadership for the city.

“He will continue to guide and mentor us, RCC Egole is a great humble team player,” Alele noted.

An IT specialist and community mobilizer, Otucu, also works in the office of Lira City woman MP, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero.

Prior to his appointment, MP Dr. Aceng’s Political Assistant, Otucu, who also has an NGO background, had travelled throughout Lira City to engage with the community about their manifesto.

RCC Egole has guided his assistants, with Alele stating, “We are committed to working as a team. I must say that we have been overwhelmed by the support of Lira City residents.”

Dick Alengo, the head teacher at Dr. Obote College, thanked President Museveni for giving Lango sons in Alele and Otucu the opportunity to serve.

He expressed satisfaction with the duo’s appointment to Lira City.

The appointment of Alele and Otucu has also been warmly received by Alyengo Ambrose, director of Mentor Schools, who has expressed even greater faith and confidence in them.

Lillian Auma Ogwal is a local fruit vendor. She stated that Alele and Otucu received the rewards they deserved.

“I have seen both of them grow into hardworking and committed young men,” Auma said.

“Lira City has young men who are work-oriented leaders who will ensure peace, safety, and enable us to benefit from government programmes.”

RCC Egole told tndNews on Sunday: “I have known those two young men very well, and I have previously worked with them in other fields; they are agile young people who are very committed to any given course.”

He commented on the selection, saying, “I think the Presidency made a very good choice of them, and all the other young men who were appointed and posted to Lira City are all quite reliable and self-motivated.”

“As long as I’m still the RCC Lira, I have a strong conviction that we shall blend well, build a strong team that will further enhance service delivery in Lira City. I congratulate them and all others sent to work with me in Lira City,” he added.
