Priest restores 68 boreholes for Dokolo North residents

Dokolo North

Dokolo | Reverend Father Alfred Okello has repaired 68 boreholes in Dokolo North as part of his agenda to provide clean and safe drinking water.

The activity began this week and is expected to continue for some time.

“All of these boreholes had failed after a set period of time without mandatory technical servicing. I understand that residents have struggled to get water from ponds located far from their homes,” Rev. Okello told tndNews.

On May 2, 2024, he handed over the repaired boreholes to the people of Alapata primary school and Bright Future primary school in Bata sub-county, saying, “I have listened to the public outcry of no access to clean water points and resolved to come up with this initiative to solve the long-overdue challenge.”

“This is not my first time repairing most of these boreholes; some had been there for over ten years. Since coming out to improve people’s lives, I have worked on 68 boreholes in Dokolo North, spending more than shs50 million on the project.

Rev. Okello is preparing to run for the Dokolo North MP seat in 2026. “I will continue to ensure that our people have access to clean and safe water in order to avoid health problems caused by the use of dirty water.”

Daniel Ogwal, the head teacher of Bright Future Primary School, stated, “I am so glad to receive this borehole; some time ago, pupils were sharing water with the animals.

“I encourage other leaders to follow the example of the man of God who has saved many people’s lives.”

The LC3 chairperson of Agwata sub-county, Tonny Obel, appreciated what Rev. Father is doing to improve healthcare for the local community.

“I wish all of our elected leaders behaved like Rev Father,” Obel said, blaming MP Moses Ogwal Goli for poor performance at the national and local levels.

Dokolo North has eight sub-counties, of which two are town councils: Bata and Agwata.
