Armoured brigade launches Tarehe Sita activities in Kalangala

Kalangala | The UPDF armoured brigade on February 1 launched its 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary celebrations activities at Kasekulo landing site in Kalangala district.

The civil-military activities at the landing site included offering free medical care against communicable diseases like malaria. The brigade and civilians cleaned the landing site.

Resident District Commissioner of Kalangala district, Eva Kwesiga commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for building a pro-people, disciplined and supportive force as evidenced by its interaction with the civilian population.

She thanked the commander of the armoured Brigade Brig Gen Deus Sande for selecting Kalangala to be one of the beneficiaries for this year’s Tarehe Sita activities in the greater Masaka sub-region.

The representative of the Brigade Commander Lt Col Charles Lubega thanked locals for continuously supporting the army from the inception of the protracted struggle for peace, security and stability in the country.

The  43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary celebrations are mainly focused on Busoga sub-region. The force continues to renew its strategic relationship with the people, who are the backbone of the liberation struggle, says the UPDF.

The armoured brigade will continue with Tarehe Sita activities in Lwengo district and Masaka City in the coming days.

On February 6, Bugweri district will host the celebrations under the theme: “Celebrating the Peoples’ struggle for peace, security and unity for social economic transformation.”

President Yoweri Museveni will be the top guest.
