Lira | The Office of the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party commonly known as the “ONC” Lango sub-region branch has started meeting to plan massive blood donations next month.
All the ONC district coordinators in Lango are involved in the planning, tndNews understands.
The coordinators’ leader, Prossy Langol said the February event will be held in collaboration with the Office of the Youth Councilors, Lira City and the Lira Regional Referral Hospital Blood Bank.
Langol termed the life-saving gesture as “a significant blood donation camp” scheduled for the first week of February 2024.
The ONC Coordinator for Lango sub-region, Langol said she appreciates Hajjat Namyalo, head of the ONC Secretariat for her continued support and commitment to initiatives that positively impact the health and well-being of our community.
As per the WHO guidelines, Uganda is mandated to raise 1 per cent of the country’s total population in terms of blood units.
Annually, more than 400,000 units of blood are required to meet the country’s health and emergency needs.
