Member of Parliament for Kyoga County, Collin Angwech, has called upon the people of Kyoga County and the entire Lango sub-region to actively participate in the upcoming 4th National Cleaning Day this Saturday.

She urged residents to join the rest of Uganda in keeping their environment clean and healthy.

The 4th edition in Lira City is particularly significant for the sub-region, she said.

The Chief Cleaner, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, is expected to lead the exercise in Lira City on October 31, 2026, as the rest of the country simultaneously undertakes the activity.

Speaking to residents, Angwech emphasized that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and a vital component of public health. She noted that collective participation in the national exercise will help prevent disease outbreaks and promote a healthier living environment for all.

“I call upon every resident of Kioga County and the entire Lango region to come out in large numbers this Saturday and take part in the national cleaning exercise.

“Let us join the rest of Uganda in this noble cause. A clean environment is the foundation of good health, and it is our duty as leaders and citizens to protect it,” Angwech said.

The legislator stressed that the national cleaning day, a government initiative aimed at promoting environmental hygiene and community responsibility, should not be viewed as a mere routine but as a patriotic duty.

She encouraged local leaders, youth groups, women’s councils, religious institutions, and all stakeholders to mobilize their communities for the exercise.

MP Angwech noted with pride that Lango hosting the 4th National Cleaning Day, with the Prime Minister leading the charge in Lira City, was a testament to the region’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Kyoga County MP also urged local authorities to ensure that the exercise is well-coordinated across the constituency and the sub-region and that all necessary tools and logistics are in place for smooth implementation, especially as Lira City prepares to host the national event.

She reiterated his commitment to championing health and environmental causes in Parliament and within the Lango sub-region, noting that a clean and healthy population is essential for development and prosperity.

The National Cleaning Day is observed across Uganda, with citizens engaging in activities such as clearing bushes, collecting garbage, cleaning drainage channels, and tidying up public spaces.

The exercise is part of broader government efforts to promote environmental sustainability and improve public health outcomes.
