The Ministry of Health has committed over shs500 million towards the completion of the construction of a modern theatre at Kaberamaido General Hospital.
The LC5 chairperson of Kaberamaido district, Victor Rex Ekesu said during a tour of the facility with the media early this week.
According to Ekesu, the facility currently has only one surgical bed which cannot handle more than one operation at a time, yet it receives patients from neighboring districts of Kalaki, Dokolo, and Amolatar.
Ekesu added that the new theatre under construction will have two surgical rooms with provisions for resting wards for patients.
Dr. Bernard Bua, the DHO of Kaberamaido, confirmed they received a letter from the PS of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine, committing to provide the funds in the current financial year, 2025/2026.
He said the current theatre was built for a Health Center IV purposely to handle pregnant mothers. However, they have been carrying out other operations in it.
Dr. Bua added that the funds will be able to complete the construction works and equip it fully.
He expressed his gratitude for the support from the Ministry.
