Lira – March 31, 2022: Instead of joining Jesus Christ who is suffering for 40 days in the ongoing Lenten period, Christians of Burlobo PAG Mission Church in Lira City East are in a stiff [resurgent] fight with Christians of Yahweh Pentecostal Mission.

Their fight is over properties, this digital publication has learned.

Fighting between PAG Mission and Yahweh Pentecostal Mission started five years ago after a section of Christians loyal to the then Bishop Joel Mukalo broke up and nicknamed themselves PAG Lira, now renamed “Yahweh”.

On Tuesday evening, Christians from PAG Mission turned wild and forcefully removed properties, dumping them outside a house belonging to Pastor Sam Omara.

Omara belongs to Yahweh Pentecostal Mission. He has received threatening messages that say he and his wife will be killed.

The fight prompted the DPC Lira to deploy the men in uniform to guard the Church and the home of Pastor Omara.

Earlier on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Christians, mainly men became rowdy and threatened to kill and injure anybody because, according to them, Burlobo Church belongs to PAG Mission.

Mary Mario Okello said their late grandfather Asrap Okello some years ago gave land for the construction of Burlobo PAG Mission Church but not Yahweh.

Okello threatened that if Yawaeh continues to cause insecurity amongst them, as children they will have no option but to reclaim back their land.

Peter Omonya, another Christian said they do not know Yawaeh or PAG Lira.

Johnson Adupa Orech, the spokesperson of Yawaeh Pentecostal Mission insists that they are not fighting PAG Mission. “We want to protect their properties,” he said.

Adupa Orech added their properties were procured by Christians after collecting monies. He vowed that as Yahweh, they are not ready to listen to any intimidation coming from PAG Lira.

Police have arrested seven men who headed the operation to evict Pastor Omara out of the Church premises.

Among the seven arrested include Andrew Odongo, Ben Oceng, Okello Eddie, Odiko Ronald, Olwa Billy, Awongo John, and Joshua Ogwang.

They are being detained at Lira City Central Police Station.

The Community Liaison Officer for Lira City East Police Station, IP Peter Ogwel warned Christians of Burlobo Church to desist from any act of violence.

Ogwel said that fighting will never be a solution to the problem, adding that eviction can only be done through a Court order.
