Lira – January 8, 2022: According to the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Patrick Jimmy Okema who is the North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, the territorial command at Lira City East Division are investigating the murder of Owiny Moris, 27.
Owiny was a boda boda rider in Lira City and resident of Ober Kampala, Ojwina Ward Lira City West Division.
“It’s alleged that the deceased carried an unknown passenger on January 6, 2022, at around 8 pm and on reaching Senior Quarters ‘A’ Cell at an isolated junction, the passenger stopped him (rider) and hit him on the head killing him instantly.
On the action taken, ASP Okema says Police was notified, the scene was visited by a team of Police officers from Lira-City East Division who picked the body after analyzing the scene.

“Since the motorbike has a tracking device it has led us to the arrest of one suspect name withheld to support the police with the investigation,” he told Journalists on Saturday.
ASP Okema conveyed the Police’s appeal to the general public, telling them to be very vigilant.
He asks boda-bodas, produce dealers, mobile money attendants, shop attendants and others “that after people spending a lot during this last festive holidays, criminal can take advantage and commit offences related to that.”
A murder case vide RB 023/2022 has been opened in Lira against Owiny’s killer.
On Friday, Charles Twiine, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Uganda Police, asked the public to arrest the occupants and impound the motorcycle if seen.
Owiny’s motorcycle was a Bajaj Boxer red in colour with Reg. No UFF 660S.
