The commission did not announce any reason for such decision.
Wakiso – 16, December 2021: The Electoral Commission (EC) on Thursday morning made a decision to postpone the Namayumba sub-county by-election.
The commission did not announce any reason for such decision.
“The EC informs political parties, candidates, their agents & voters in Namayumba Sub County, Wakiso District, that polling for by-election of Chairperson, Namayumba Sub County Local Gov’t which was earlier scheduled for 16/12/2021 has been postponed to Friday 17/12/2021,” the EC said on Twitter.
Earlier on Thursday, National Unity Platform (NUP) posted samples of ballot papers showing mixed political symbols against different candidates in Namayumba.
“In Namayumba, this is how the ballot paper appears! The voters have been told to go ahead and vote, and use a pen to write NUP! Clearly, the @UgandaEC is part of the NRM plot to rig these elections.”
They ended the above statement with, #WeAreRemovingADictator

Meanwhile, voting continues in Kayunga district and other parts of the country where by-elections are taking place.
In Kayunga, they are re-electing the district LC5 Chairperson. NUP’s Harriet Nakawedde is battling it out with NRM’s Andrew Muwonge, among other candidates.
