Updates: Curfew lifted, public transport to operate at 100%

December 31, 2021: President Museveni has lifted curfew except for Boda Bodas. The lifting of curfew takes effect in the next two weeks after school reopening.

In his address to the nation on Friday, December 31, Museveni directed Boda Bodas to stop business at 17:00hrs. They start at 5:30 am.

Public transport will also resume at full capacity. The resumption of public transport comes at a time when schools are reopening on January 10, 2022.

Bars and open concerts will reopen on January 25, weeks after schools have reopened.

Cinemas, sporting activities (football) have also been reopened. All the sectors reopened are directed to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to Museveni, pre-primary, primary and secondary schools will start on January 10, 2022.

He advises shifts in reporting: starting with senior one, two and three in that order.

Decisions to reopen fully, Museveni says is based on factors: increased vaccination, and medicine (Covidex) that aids in fighting the virus.

The story is being updated.
