London, United Kingdom (UK), 14 December 2021: Three days after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni appointed new ambassadors to foreign countries, the outgoing country’s ambassador to London and Ireland has sent TND News his farewell message.
In his email sent Tuesday, Ambassador Julius Peter Moto, wrote:
Dear Londoners and Dubliners, fondest greetings.
As you might have already known in one way or the other, my Tour of Duty in the Courts of St James’, London & Dublin has come to an end. It is time to say Goodbye. I shall let you know the exact dates of my departure after an official handover is done.
I thank President Museveni for giving me the opportunity to serve Uganda as High Commissioner in Pretoria and London for a period of EIGHT (08) productive years after I crossed from the business sector to the public sector.
I learned a lot from these strategic tours of duties. I contributed knowledge to the staff with whom I worked in teams in Pretoria and London. I believe I added value to the objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that fed into Government goals.
During the course of dispensing my duties, I met thousands of Ugandans in the diaspora. I met high-quality investors and wooed them to Uganda, perhaps one of the reasons I was voted the best envoy in attracting inward investments and tourists in real-time to Uganda.
I may have wronged you or not met your expectations, but that is life. Forgive me if I did so, and we move on. Mountains don’t meet but people do. I shall meet you sometime in the future.
