The Anti-Corruption Court last week remanded Ismael Ochengel, CAO of Lira district; Roy Angumaniyo, Chief Finance Officer of Arua district; and Andeku Shaphan Glead Avua, a retired district planner who previously worked at Arua district, to Luzira prison.

The trio, arrested by the Inspectorate of Government, were remanded over the allegation of diversion of shs200m and abuse of office.

They appeared before Her Worship Esther Asiimwe and denied all charges.

The IG prosecutors told the court that during the financial year 2017/2018, the trio allegedly diverted shs200m Discretionary Development Equalisation Grant (DDEG) funds meant for procuring fixed assets for unrelated purposes from those which were intended, an act which was prejudicial to the interests of the employer.

Today, they will return to court for the hearing of their bail applications.
