How Premier league managers reacted to Mikel Arteta’s appointment

Emirates Stadium, London – Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Mikel Arteta as Unai Emery’s successor at the Emirates Stadium, luring their former midfielder from the clutches of Manchester City.

Arteta has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Gunners, returning to the club where he finished his playing career with a five-year stint in North London.

The Spaniard becomes the 20th manager in Arsenal’s history and faces a daunting task this season after what has been a sub-par display so far from the side he has inherited.

Arteta is at a different end of his managerial career, but looking from the outside and seeing how he carries himself, he’d be a really positive appointment. “He has been an assistant for many years. Of his generation I didn’t think there was enough coming through but now there are a few of them. That is good to say.
