Gulu security forces harvest 46 ‘hardcore criminals’


Police in Gulu says it has arrested 46 ‘hardcore criminals’ in a joint operation between Uganda Police and Uganda People’s Defense Forces [UPDF].

The suspects were arrested from Oloyoilong and Cuk pa Oweka in Pece and Layibi divisions respectively.

Komakech Kelly, the Pece Division LC3 chairperson in an interview with our reporter confirmed the operation and arrest of the 46 people, saying that the criminals have been spotted earlier on by both local leaders and community members.

He added that the operation was aimed at reducing high crime rates within the Municipality.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa regional spokesperson confirmed the operation saying that the operation was also aimed at reducing the high crime rate within Gulu.

He added that: “These people will be produced before court.”

“The operation will continue until the wrong doers are picked up,” Okema told our reporter.
