Ugandan media personality Fifi Da Queen has expressed disappointment with singer Lil Pazo following alleged claims that she extorted money from him, saying the accusations ignore the support she gave him when his music career was still developing.

Fifi defended herself against the allegations, insisting that she played an important role in introducing the singer’s music to television audiences through Bukedde TV.

The media personality said she could hardly believe that Lil Pazo would accuse her of wrongdoing, considering the efforts she claims to have made to help his songs reach a wider audience.

According to Fifi, she gave the singer airtime at a time when he was still trying to establish himself in Uganda’s music industry. She believes her contribution to promoting his music makes the accusations particularly hurtful.

She also revealed that supporting Lil Pazo came with professional challenges, claiming that some of his songs attracted criticism because of their vulgar content.

Fifi alleged that she was summoned before the disciplinary committee at her workplace several times over her decision to play the singer’s music.Despite those challenges, she said she continued giving his songs exposure because she believed in promoting his work.

Her defence centred on the sacrifices she says she made to help the singer gain recognition, questioning why someone she supported would turn around and accuse her of extortion.“Of all people, Lil Pazo, it shouldn’t be you attacking me. You have no idea how I was the first to play your song on Bukedde TV,” she said.

Fifi further maintained that the extortion allegations were baseless, firmly denying that she had taken money from the singer through improper means.“Now you claim I extorted money from you? That’s a lie,” she added.

The disagreement has put the spotlight on the relationship between Ugandan musicians and media personalities, especially the contribution of television presenters in promoting songs and helping artists build their reputations.
