Fred Lumbuye Kajubi, also known as Chemical Ali, has appealed to Ugandans with diplomatic connections to help him as he says he continues to live in fear while staying in an undisclosed location in Turkey.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, the exiled Ugandan blogger and political activist called on people with access to foreign diplomats to come to his assistance.

Lumbuye said he had helped many Ugandans over the years by sharing security alerts and information about developments in the country.

He claimed that some of the people who benefited from his alerts included government officials, Buganda Kingdom figures, religious leaders and ordinary Ugandans.

According to Lumbuye, some people survived arrests and other dangerous situations after receiving information that he had shared through his platforms.

However, he said the situation had now changed and that many of the people he previously helped were remaining silent as he faced pressure over his continued stay in Turkey.

Lumbuye appealed to such individuals to remember the assistance he had provided and speak up for him while he is still alive.

He argued that some of those who have the ability to intervene could contact diplomatic officials or the Turkish authorities on his behalf.

The activist said he was particularly concerned about what he described as growing efforts to have him returned to Uganda.

His comments come amid renewed public statements concerning his presence in Turkey and demands for his return to Uganda.

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has previously spoken about Lumbuye, accusing him of causing concern among government and security officials through his online activities.

The issue has also attracted the attention of the Patriotic League of Uganda, whose supporters recently demonstrated outside the Turkish Embassy in Kampala.

The demonstrators called for Turkish authorities to hand Lumbuye over to Uganda, where they said he should face the allegations against him.

The developments have increased attention on Lumbuye’s situation as he continues to operate his social media platforms from outside Uganda.

Lumbuye has maintained his criticism of the Ugandan government and regularly comments on political and security developments in the country.

In his latest message, he insisted that his contribution to people should be recognised while he is still alive rather than after his death.

He referred to the late blogger Isma Olaxes, saying people should not wait for tragedy before appreciating individuals who have contributed to public discussions.

Lumbuye further urged Ugandans with access to international officials to use their connections to help address his situation.

He said a simple intervention through the relevant diplomatic channels could potentially make a difference to his circumstances.

The activist’s latest appeal comes as tensions surrounding his presence in Turkey continue to generate debate among Ugandans at home and abroad.

For now, Lumbuye says he remains concerned about his safety and is calling on those who can assist him to come forward.
