Professor Abdul Ssekajja has opened up about his decision to marry Ugandan singer Chosen Becky despite her being a mother, saying that compatibility and understanding are more important factors when choosing a life partner.
Ssekajja, popularly known as Professor Ssekajja, said having children from previous relationships should not automatically determine whether someone is suitable for marriage.
The businessman and public figure explained that he also had children before meeting and marrying Chosen Becky, making her situation something he understood personally.

In an interview with MC Mayor on YouTube, Ssekajja was asked why he decided to marry the singer despite her having children before their relationship.
“Because I also had kids,” Ssekajja responded, explaining that he did not see children as a barrier to finding love and building a family.
He went ahead to question who should marry single mothers if society continues to judge women based on whether they have children.
“Who should marry single moms?” he asked, challenging the belief that women with children should be rejected when looking for marriage partners.
According to Ssekajja, a man can choose to marry a woman without children, but that does not necessarily mean she will be the right person for him.

He said the most important thing in marriage is finding someone whose character, values and personality match with yours.
Ssekajja explained that compatibility plays a bigger role in building a successful marriage than a person’s past experiences or whether they already have children.
He argued that relationships require understanding, patience and acceptance from both partners, especially when they come from different backgrounds.
The professor said people should focus more on whether two individuals can live together peacefully rather than judging them based on their previous family situations.
Ssekajja and Chosen Becky officially tied the knot in December 2025 in a colourful ceremony attended by family members, friends and close associates.
The wedding attracted attention because of the couple’s popularity, with many fans celebrating the union between the singer and the professor.
The elegant ceremony featured a black-and-white decoration theme, creating a memorable atmosphere for the couple and their guests.

Chosen Becky, whose real name is Becky Kiconco, is a popular Ugandan singer known for her music career and public appearances.
Before marrying Ssekajja, the singer had previously been in a relationship with her former partner, Diktator Amir, with whom she has children.
Ssekajja said his decision was based on love, understanding and the connection he shared with Chosen Becky rather than focusing on whether she had children.
He emphasized that marriage is about choosing a person you can build a future with, regardless of their previous life experiences.
The remarks have sparked conversations among Ugandans about relationships, single parents and the factors people should consider when choosing marriage partners.
Many people have continued debating the importance of acceptance and compatibility in modern relationships, with Ssekajja’s story becoming an example of how blended families can be formed.
Ssekajja said his marriage to Chosen Becky shows that love and mutual understanding can overcome societal expectations and judgments surrounding people with children.
