Wazalendo SACCO has donated jerseys to Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) teams ahead of the 18th edition of the Inter-Forces Games scheduled to take place in Gulu district from August 25, 2026.
Major General Richard Karemire, the Joint Staff for Formal Education, Sports and Culture, expressed appreciation to Wazalendo SACCO for the support, describing the donation as a morale boost for the participating teams.
“Beyond the material support, it is a powerful morale booster for our teams. It signifies belief in their talent and dedication, and it will undoubtedly inspire them to perform at their very best and bring home victory,” Maj Gen Karemire said.
Speaking on behalf of Wazalendo SACCO, the Director of Finance and Administration, Colonel JB Kato, reaffirmed the SACCO’s commitment to supporting the welfare and development of the UPDF community.
“Wazalendo SACCO is proud to stand with the UPDF, not just as financial partners but as champions of their success. We believe in the power of sports to foster discipline, teamwork and national pride,” Col Kato said.

He added that the donation reflects the SACCO’s continued commitment to supporting the well-being and aspirations of its members and the wider UPDF family.
The new jerseys are expected to give the UPDF teams a unified and professional appearance as they compete in the Inter-Forces Games, which bring together personnel from various security institutions, according to Major General Richard Karemire.
