“I’m just a supportive partner, i just supported my man, not the NRM party” – singer Vinka clears the air

Singer Vinka

Singer Vinka has addressed ongoing rumours surrounding her political position after her recent public appearance alongside her partner sparked speculation that she supports the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The musician clarified that her actions were motivated by her role as a supportive partner and should not automatically be interpreted as an endorsement of a particular political party.

Vinka explained that she simply wanted to stand by her man and support him in his activities, emphasizing that being present or showing support does not necessarily mean that she has joined or endorsed the NRM.

“I’m just a supportive partner, I just supported my man, not the NRM party,” Vinka said while responding to the speculation surrounding her.

The singer said she had noticed discussions about her political position circulating among members of the public and on social media following her appearance.

According to Vinka, some people quickly concluded that she had taken a political side simply because she publicly supported her partner.

She, however, insisted that her decision to stand with him was personal and should not be confused with political allegiance.

Vinka said she believes partners should be able to support each other in their individual activities, particularly when one of them is involved in a public or demanding undertaking.

The singer’s clarification comes amid heightened political discussions in Uganda as the country moves through the 2026 election period.

Her appearance had attracted attention because of her celebrity status and the visibility of the activities in which her partner was involved.

Social media users subsequently began debating whether the singer had decided to openly associate herself with the ruling NRM party.

Vinka has now sought to put the speculation to rest, saying her support should be understood in the context of her relationship rather than as a political declaration.

She emphasized that accompanying or supporting a partner does not necessarily mean sharing every political position or belonging to the same political organisation.

The singer also appeared keen to separate her personal life from political interpretations, asking the public to avoid drawing conclusions based on a single public appearance.

Her comments have since generated discussion among her fans, with some welcoming the clarification while others continue to debate the political implications of celebrities appearing at political events.

Vinka is one of Uganda’s popular musicians and has built a large following through her music career, making her public appearances a subject of considerable attention.

The singer has previously attracted public interest whenever her personal life and public activities intersect, particularly when they involve other prominent personalities.

By making the clarification, Vinka appears to be drawing a clear line between supporting someone she loves and officially supporting a political party.

She maintained that her intention was simply to be there for her partner and show him personal support rather than campaign for the NRM.

Vinka’s statement is expected to end some of the speculation surrounding her political position, although discussions about celebrities and politics are likely to continue as the 2026 political season progresses.
