Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo has been consecrated as an Episcopal Bishop in a historic ceremony held at Covenant Hill in Maya, Wakiso District, marking a major milestone in her Christian ministry journey.

The colourful event coincided with the 20th anniversary celebrations of Covenant Nations Church (CNC), the ministry founded and led by Rwabwogo.

The consecration ceremony was presided over by Bishop Dr LaDonna C. Osborn, a renowned American evangelist and daughter of the late international preacher Dr T.L. Osborn.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni attended the ceremony as guests of honour, joining thousands of worshippers and religious leaders.

The event also attracted prominent Christian figures, including Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and his wife Pastor Folu Adeboye.

The Adeboyes, who share a close spiritual relationship with Rwabwogo, travelled to Uganda to witness the historic occasion.

Rwabwogo’s elevation to the position of Bishop was celebrated as a significant achievement in Uganda’s religious history, making her one of the few daughters of former presidents to take up a major role in Christian ministry.

The consecration represented a new level of responsibility for Rwabwogo, who has spent years building Covenant Nations Church from a small fellowship into a wider ministry.

Her Christian journey began at a young age when she committed her life to Jesus Christ at the age of 11.

Rwabwogo has previously spoken about how her faith was influenced by her family’s Christian background and the example set by her grandparents and other relatives.

A major moment in her spiritual journey came when evangelist Dr Daisy Washburn Osborn gave her a Bible while she was still young, an experience she described as planting the seed of salvation.

Although she grew spiritually over the years, Rwabwogo said accepting a calling into pastoral ministry was not easy and took her several years.

She eventually embraced the calling, leading to the establishment and growth of Covenant Nations Church, which began operations around 2005 and 2006.

The ministry has since expanded with a focus on discipleship, leadership development and preparing young people to take up responsibilities in society.

Rwabwogo has often emphasized that ministry should go beyond church services by addressing issues affecting communities through education, leadership and social transformation.

Her vision has also been reflected through institutions linked to the ministry, including Bible and leadership training programmes aimed at equipping future generations.

She has repeatedly encouraged young people to develop skills and knowledge that can help them contribute positively to society.

The new Bishop has also promoted Christian unity through initiatives that bring together believers from different denominations for evangelism and community outreach.

The journey towards her consecration began after the 2025 Light Up Uganda for Jesus Mission at Kololo, where Bishop LaDonna Osborn reportedly expressed her belief that Rwabwogo had a calling to the episcopal office.

The appointment came as a continuation of Rwabwogo’s long spiritual journey rather than a sudden change, linking her childhood faith experiences with her current leadership role.

As Covenant Nations Church celebrates two decades of ministry, Bishop Patience Museveni Rwabwogo now takes on greater responsibilities in guiding the church and expanding its vision both in Uganda and beyond.
