Uganda confirms 77 new Covid-19 cases

National—28, August 2020: Since March this year, Uganda’s Ministry of Health has tested 367, 423 cumulative Covid-19 samples. Of these, 2,756 Ugandans have tested positive and 28 have died.

In less than a month, over 800 new cases have been confirmed, including deaths.

Kampala and its Metropolitan Area continue to lead with infections and deaths, a data from the Ministry attests.

Announcing results of tests done on Thursday, 27 2020, the Ministry confirmed 77 new Covid-19 cases, and no death.

Out of the 77 new cases, 65 were alerts and contacts from Kampala, 42 from Amuru, 4 from Kikuube, 4 from Mukono, 3 from Wakiso, 3 from Luweero, 2 from Arua, 1 from Bundibugyo, 1 from Busia and 1 from Jinja districts.

Nine health workers, 5 from Kampala, 2 from Arua, 2 from Kikuube and 1 from Gulu tested positive for coronavirus.

Also, three Ugandan truckers from different points of entry tested positive for the virus, added the Ministry, in a statement issued on Friday.

Uganda has 1, 288 total recoveries to date.  608 samples were tested from points of entry.

3,013 samples from alerts and contacts were also tested on Thursday.
