Kole investor Mayur Patel loses 2k liters of soya crude oil worth shs12m

Kole district police are investigating a case of theft of soya crude oil reported on May 2, 2026, at 3pm.

The theft was reported and recorded at Kole Central Police Station.

Mayur Patel, 35, is an investor and businessman residing in Abolonyero village, Telela parish, Ayer sub-county, Kole. He reported that his consignment of soya crude oil had been stolen from DIG Oil Factory premises in the district.

On May 1, 2026, in the night at DIG Oil Factory in Abolonyero village, he told police that unknown persons, in connivance with the factory security guard identified as Obongo Eric, unlawfully accessed the premises and stole approximately 2,000 litres of soya crude oil valued at shs12,000,000.

The said security guard did not report the incident to any relevant authorities until May 2, 2026 at midday when the complainant discovered the loss.

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO of North Kyoga region said police officers, led by the District Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and a team of detectives from Kole CPS, visited and documented the scene.

Three suspects, namely Obongo Eric, security guard, Ojuka Lamek, security supervisor at DIG Oil Company, and Awio Jaspher, machine operator, have since been arrested to assist with investigations, according to SP Okema.

Relevant statements have been recorded, he added.

On Monday, SP Okema said efforts were in place to apprehend other suspects believed to be business dealers in Lira City and other investigative processes.
