Murder by assault of Onyot Zakayo, 26, at a bar in Dokolo

The territorial police in Dokolo district have launched an investigation into a case of murder by assault that occurred on the night of April 2, 2026 at an unknown time within Akaidebe Cell, Central Ward, Dokolo Town Council.

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema said the incident was reported on April 2 at 9:30 am by Ogwang Jacob, 43. Ogwang is a peasant farmer and LC1 chairperson of Akaidebe Cell.

The deceased has been identified as Onyot Zakayo, 26, and a resident of the same area.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was in the company of others consuming alcohol at a local bar within Dokolo Town Council when a misunderstanding arose, escalating into a violent altercation.

During the fight, SP Okema said, the suspect, identified as Okai Solomon, 18 and a resident of Akaidebe Cell, together with others still at large, allegedly assaulted the deceased, inflicting injuries that led to his death.

Police have since registered a case of murder by assault, he added. “The scene of crime was visited and documented by the District CID Officer alongside homicide Scene of Crime personnel.

“The body of the deceased was examined using Police Forms 48A and 48B by a medical officer at Dokolo Health Centre IV and later handed over to the relatives for burial arrangements.”

According to SP Okema, statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses to support the ongoing investigations. One suspect, Okai Solomon, has been arrested and is currently in custody to assist police with inquiries, while efforts to apprehend the other suspects are ongoing.

The territorial police in Dokolo have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information that may aid in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
