Amolatar: Alemere SS students stage violent strike, teachers flee

Alemere Community Secondary School in Amolatar district is currently under heavy police deployment following a violent students’ strike that broke out on the evening of April 21, 2026.

The unrest was reportedly triggered by a school operation intended to enforce uniform discipline, which resulted in the confiscation of several sacks of non-uniform clothing and mobile phones.

Over 500 students have fled the school premises, with many seeking refuge in nearby bushes and the surrounding town after police moved in to quell the riot.

In a retaliatory move, students allegedly targeted the homes of their teachers, forcing many staff members to flee for their safety.

Security forces have established control over the school grounds. Dormitories reportedly remain empty as the majority of the students body have scattered.

While the situation has been stabilised, the school remains under police guard. Investigations are expected to follow to identify the ringleaders and assess the extent of the damage.

This is a developing story
