LC1, 2 elections: Unscrupulous lot soliciting money for nominations in Amolatar

The District Registrar of the Electoral Commission for Amolatar, Nakiru Irene Hope, has issued a stern warning to the public against individuals who are unlawfully collecting money from candidates aspiring to contest for the LC1 positions.

According to Nakiru, no official guidelines or nomination forms have been released yet for the “upcoming” elections.

This cautionary statement comes in response to troubling reports indicating that certain groups are deceitfully soliciting funds from community members, falsely promising to provide nomination forms for the village polls.

Nakiru emphasised that only the Electoral Commission holds the authority to issue official nomination documents.

Additionally, she disclosed that the status of the LC1 elections remains uncertain, as her office has not received any formal communication or directives concerning the electoral process.

In light of this, Nakiru urges the community to remain vigilant against fraudsters and to seek accurate information directly from the Electoral Commission’s office to avoid falling prey to scams.

Members of the public are further encouraged to report any suspicious activities and to await official announcements before engaging in any election-related transactions.

“The Electoral Commission remains the sole credible source for all election processes and documentation,” Nakiru said.

Minister of Local Government, Raphael Magyezi in February 2026 announced that LC1 and LC2 elections would be held nationwide in March–April 2026 to fill a longstanding grassroots leadership vacuum.

However, all signs seem to indicate that no such electoral activities may take place as initially planned.
