The territorial police in Hoima City have launched a manhunt for an unidentified car driver who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in Hoima City.
According to the Albertine regional police PRO ASP Julius Allan Hakiza, the incident took place on March 18 at around 7:20 pm, leaving Enock Mutazihara, a refugee from Kyangwali refugee camp in Kikuube district lifeless.
He stated that the incident occurred along the Hoima City-Buliisa road in Kyesiga cell, Hoima City West Division.
Hakiza added that the police immediately visited the crime scene for documentation, and later took the body to Hoima City mortuary for a postmortem.
However, the police were unable to identify the criminal since he fled to an unknown destination before the police arrived.
Meanwhile, the PRO assured the public that the police efforts are underway, hunting and arresting the driver who is behind the death.
ASP Hakiza urged drivers to respect traffic rules and regulations and to avoid drinking while on the road.
