Police investigate fatal stabbing of Kamdini’s Nairobi bar and hotel client

A 50-year-old driver has been denied a chance to celebrate Christmas and enter the new year, 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO of North Kyoga Region, said the territorial police through Oyam Central Police Station, are investigating a case of murder.

The murder, SP Okema said, was registered at the Kamdini town council police station.

The incident occurred on December 15, 2025, at around 2am at Abanya A Cell, Eastern Ward, Kamdini town council, Oyam district.

The matter was reported on the same date at about 7:56 pm by Ali Ssemuju, 40. According to SP Okema, Ali is a driver and car controller, a resident of Juba, Southern Sudan.

The deceased has been identified as Majid Bonny Ramathan, approximately 50 years old driver and a resident of Adjumani district.

“Earlier on the same day, a case of disappearance of the deceased had been reported to the police vide SD Reference 39/15/12/2025, after which inquiries commenced. Subsequently, at about 0005 hours, the body of the deceased was discovered at Nairobi Bar and Hotel along the Kamdini–Gulu Road with a deep cut wound on the right side of the chest,” said SP Okema.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was attacked and fatally stabbed, he added. A bar attendant at the said bar and hotel, Arebo Esther, 28, resident of Abanya B Cell, Eastern Ward, Kamdini town council, disclosed that the deceased was stabbed by her former boyfriend identified as Abila Denis alias Adupa Bonny, 35.

Abila is a boda boda rider and resident of Abanya B Cell, Eastern Ward, Kamdini town council. “The suspect was traced and arrested,” the PRO revealed.

“Police registered a murder case, visited the crime scene with a team of detectives and uniformed personnel led by the Officer in Charge, Kamdini Town Council Police Station.

“The scene was examined, processed and documented by the Scene of Crime Officer, and later reinforced by the district CID team.

“Statements were recorded from the reporter and other relevant witnesses, and the body of the deceased was conveyed to Anyeke Health Centre IV mortuary for postmortem examination. Two suspects are currently in custody to assist with investigations.”

SP Okema concluded that investigations are still ongoing, and additional statements from relevant witnesses are to be recorded.
