President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday, November 21, concluded his presidential campaign trail in the Busoga sub-region with a grand rally at Kyabazinga Stadium–Bugembe in Jinja City.
The event drew hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic supporters, marking one of the largest gatherings on his campaign schedule in the East.
The success of the rally was attributed not only to the massive turnout but also to the seamless security coordination that ensured order throughout the event.
AIGP Moses Kafeero, the zonal commander overseeing Busoga and Sezibwa regions, commended Regional Police Commander SSP Charles Nsaba for spearheading efforts that guaranteed public safety.
He noted that 95% of supporters were able to attend without any security-related incidents, and normal traffic flow remained uninterrupted. Crowd control measures were effectively implemented, supported by robust joint security visibility.
Busoga NRM leaders echoed Kafeero’s appreciation, praising the RPC’s non-confrontational and professional approach to managing political activities. They said SSP Nsaba’s style of policing has placed Jinja at the forefront of human-rights-based law enforcement in Uganda, especially during the election season.
The well-organized security apparatus stood out throughout the president’s trail in the region. Namutumba District NRM chairperson Simon Menya said the entire election cycle had remained peaceful, citing the uninterrupted Trans-Africa Highway from Busia to Kampala as an example of the commendable work done by security teams. “We can’t thank security enough,” he said.
Jinja City NRM chairperson Edwin Lufafa also applauded SSP Nsaba for helping boost investor confidence. He described the RPC as a “thorough officer” who prioritizes respectful dialogue with stakeholders to discourage divisive politics and prevent tensions before, during, and after elections.
Under Nsaba’s leadership, the Kiira region has registered notable success in combating organized crimes, including motor vehicle number plate theft, murders, aggravated robberies, human trafficking, social media misuse, defilement, and other petty offences.
These achievements, leaders said, demonstrate the value of coordinated and community-centered policing.
In response, SSP Nsaba attributed the region’s success to the collective support of government structures and security agencies.
He highlighted the contributions of the Office of the President through RDCs and RCCs, the UPDF under Cantonment Commander Brig Gen Emmanuel Kanyesigye, and SSP Deogracious Ogwapit, the RPC for Prisons South Eastern Region.
He further praised intelligence teams and the general public for their cooperation, which he said continues to strengthen security operations across the region.
With the Busoga campaign trail now complete, both NRM leaders and security officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment as the election season intensifies.
