MP Aguti delivers vital medical equipment to Dokolo HCIV

Dokolo Health Centre IV in Dokolo town council has received a significant boost in its medical capabilities with the donation of an oxygen concentrator cylinder and an additional maternity bed.

This vital equipment was provided by the Ministry of Health through the efforts of the Dokolo district woman Member of Parliament, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori.

The donation was facilitated by the Ministry of Health under the leadership of Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Lira City.

The delivery of the equipment was confirmed by the district’s Woman Member of Parliament, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori who lobbied for it.

On Monday, October 6, 2025, a team from the Dokolo District Local Government, led by Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Denis Orit and accompanied by the District Health Officer (DHO), Dr Samuel Ojok, officially received the equipment.

They immediately delivered it to the headquarters’ administrators.

While handing over the items, Assistant CAO Orit urged the health centre staff to put the equipment to immediate use to secure the lives of pregnant mothers and other patients. He emphasised the importance of implementing the resources promptly rather than letting them sit idle.

Orit also expressed his appreciation to MP Aguti for prioritising the health sector and for her role in helping to fight and reduce maternal and child mortality during delivery.

The District Health Officer, Dr Samuel Ojok, thanked MP Aguti Nyangkori for her efforts in liaising with the Ministry of Health. He noted that the maternity bed and oxygen concentrator will greatly benefit both pregnant mothers and their unborn babies.

Dr Ojok urged the MP to continue lobbying for more medical equipment so that patients can receive proper and timely treatment, highlighting that the health centre had lacked an oxygen concentrator for many years.

In her remarks, MP Aguti revealed that the process of lobbying for this equipment from the Ministry of Health began last year, immediately after she entered the Parliament of Uganda.

She added that she had originally requested a total of four maternity beds for Health Centre IV, plus two more for each of the Health Centre IIIs within the district.

During the handover ceremony, MP Aguti made a further request to the Ministry of Health for an additional maternity ward at Dokolo Health Centre IV.

She passionately stated, “As an elected leader, I will not see my voters die and keep quiet.”
