Oyam | Hundreds across Oyam district gathered at Oyam Boma Ground on August 4 to witness the official launch of the Jane Acilo Foundation and inaugural Leadership Conference.

The above activities also featured the official launch of the two day free medical camps scheduled for August 5 to 6 at the Boma and Loro Town Council grounds, respectively.

Rev. Canon Esau Omara Ejon officially launched the above, with a key call on the Foundation’s long term sustainability.

Canon Esau applauded the Foundation’s Founder Jane Frances Acilo for her vision, and global connections which he said has seen her fly important persons to Oyam district.

He stated that Jane’s vision for Oyam district is “commendable,” advising that the health camps starting on Tuesday and Wednesday “should not be politicised”.

“Health is wealth,” Esau told the attendees, further thanking Jane Acilo for bringing health camps nearer to the people of Oyam.

Esau stated that any leader who prioritizes the health and wellbeing of the people has to be supported and commended for the efforts.

Speaking at the launch, Jane Frances Acilo announced key priorities for the Foundation: health and education

“Today is a day of starting a seed of transformation,” she said. “The Foundation will research, publish and inspire – taking women and youth into entrepreneurship.”

The Foundation, she revealed, is committed to working with the government, civil society groups, religious and cultural leaders hand-in-hand.

“To the people of Oyam, this Foundation belongs to you for the good of Lango and Uganda. Guide it, guard it and grow with it,” she asserted.

To the development partners, Acilo, the NRM flag bearer for Oyam district woman MP race in 2026, asked them to “walk with us and let us plant a seed of gold.” “To everyone who contributed to the vision of this Foundation, thank you.”

She stated: “We are not just starting a Foundation, we are starting a Movement for a better Oyam.”

Dr. David Mulopa, who arrived in the country from South Africa last week, was a guest speaker at the launch of the Foundation and Leadership Conference.

Dr. Mulopa is a renowned leadership consultant, author of more than 50 books and an international speaker. He said the Foundation is the beginning of great things.

Jane Acilo

He describes Jane as “a true leader of the people” who identifies tomorrow’s problems and solves them today. “A true leader loves people.”

“A leader must have the capacity to be able to guide and advise. Through the Jane Acilo Foundation we are launching today, it will have all aspects of leadership. It will be able to help the leaders identify people with potential and empower them.”
