
Kampala—29, May 2020: The Ministry of Health confirmed 36 new virus cases for Thursday, pushing the country’s total confirmed cases to 317.
In a statement, the Ministry added that 24 new cases are truck drivers; 20 arrived via Elegu, 2 arrived via Malaba and 1 was from Lia Point of Entry in Arua district.
“12 of the new cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers. The contacts were under quarantine at the time of test.”
According to the Health Ministry, they handed 26 positive foreign truck drivers over to their country of origin.
1,428 samples from Points of Entry were tested, and 802 from community and alerts, Ministry further confirms.
Country’s total recoveries stand at 69.

There are over 30 isolation centres handing COVID-19 patients across the country. In northern Uganda, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital is leading with 61 cases followed by Lira hospital with 21 cases.
In Eastern Uganda, Soroti Regional Referral Hospital is handling 25 cases, TND News has learned.
