Two students from Abongomola Seed Secondary School in Kwania district have been arrested following the mob murder of Lukori Solomon, 21.
The deceased was a Senior Four boarding student and a resident of Imeny village, Apolika parish, Chawente sub-county, Kwania.
According to North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the incident occurred on April 29, 2026, at approximately 12:05 a.m.
The murder by mob action took place at Abongomola Seed Secondary School, located in Ogwok A village, Ogwok parish, Abongomola sub-county.
Okema added that the case was reported at 2:34 a.m. by Adupa Stephen, 40, the deputy headteacher of the school, who resides in Ogwok A village.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was accused by fellow students of stealing property from the boys’ dormitory. In response, a group of students overpowered the school watchmen and pursued him for approximately 400 metres towards Ogwok trading centre.
After apprehending him, the group assaulted him using sticks and bricks, inflicting severe injuries. He was later returned to the school premises and taken to the staff room, where he succumbed to his injuries.
A case of murder was registered at Abongomola sub-county Police Station and is now being investigated under Kwania CPS.
A team led by the district OC CID, accompanied by homicide detectives and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), visited and processed the scene, which was photographed and documented, according to SP Okema.
Statements have been recorded from the deceased’s parents, school administration, and other relevant witnesses.
The deceased’s body was conveyed to Aduku Health Centre IV Mortuary for a postmortem examination, with proper documentation. Exhibits, including sticks and bricks believed to have been used in the assault, were recovered from the scene.
Okema added that two student leaders—Egaru Douglas and Okello Ivan James—have been arrested to assist with ongoing investigations.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to bring all those involved to justice. The public is strongly cautioned against engaging in mob actions, as this is unlawful and undermines the rule of law.
Community members are urged to report suspected offenders to the relevant authorities for proper legal action, as provided under Section 15 (which allows citizens to apprehend suspected criminals) and Section 16 of the Criminal Procedure Code Act.
