Kisembo Idd, aspirant for national youth vice chairperson, calls for unity

Kisembo Idd, who is seeking the position of national youth vice chairperson, has called for a united platform among the youth in the country.

His call for unity comes as the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s electoral commission reschedules the youth election to September 30, 2025. The delay follows an incident that took place during the national delegates conference at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Speaking to our reporter on Friday, August 29, 2025, Kisembo stated that he is stepping forward not just as a candidate, but as a voice for the voiceless, a bridge for the marginalized, and a fighter for fairness in youth politics.

He emphasized his commitment to curbing the culture of voter bribery and monetized politics.

“My dream is to see Uganda where even a young man or woman from the deepest village, with no wealthy background, has the courage and opportunity to contest for any position without fear or limitation,” Kisembo said.

“This current system has crippled the political careers of the youth because many leaders end up focusing more on recovering the money they spent rather than delivering services to those who entrusted them with leadership.”

He lamented that youth politics has become heavily monetized, where money has replaced ideas. “Traders have entered our political space seeking profits instead of service. This reality has denied genuine, committed young people the chance to serve.”

Kisembo pointed to the recent NRM delegates conference as a clear example, where voter bribery was practiced openly. “If we allow this to continue, politics will only remain a game for the wealthy, leaving out the very poor who form the majority of Uganda’s youth,” he warned.

Outlining his plan of action, Kisembo pledged that as the national vice chairperson, he would work tirelessly with fellow leaders to promote integrity in elections by advocating for stricter monitoring and fair competition.

He also vowed to empower ordinary youth with skills, mentorship, and platforms that enable them to compete on merit, not financial strength.

Now gaining significant momentum ahead of the elections, Kisembo shared his vision to introduce a national youth platform—a dedicated space for every youth across Uganda to connect, support, and grow together.

“This platform will not just be for elections, but for building strong relationships and fostering unity,” he explained.

“By doing this, we pave the way for a new generation of leaders who can rise from the grassroots to positions such as LC5 chairpersons, Members of Parliament, and beyond—without being chained by financial corruption,” Kisembo stated.

He further committed to transforming youth lives through developmental skills by partnering with organizations to equip youth with job and entrepreneurship skills. His goal is to prepare young leaders who can compete nationally and globally.

“I believe the youth deserve better. We cannot watch as corruption and voter bribery kill our future. We must build a system where service comes before money, where talent is valued more than wealth, and where opportunity is shared equally among all youth,” he concluded.
