The Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, has called on NRM delegates from the Lango sub-region to trust and vote for the party’s candidates in the upcoming Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections if they wish to benefit more from the ruling government.

Dr. Baryomunsi made these remarks while meeting NRM delegates at Good News Hotel in Lira City on Saturday, ahead of the CEC elections scheduled for August 25–28, 2025, at Kololo Independence Grounds.

The minister, who is vying for the position of Western Uganda CEC representative, serves as the Member of Parliament for Kinkizi East Constituency in Kanungu district.

He emphasized that the NRM party requires extensive reorganization, particularly in strengthening linkages between the central leadership and grassroots structures.

“We must explore innovative mobilization strategies and harness Uganda’s demographic and gender dividends to ensure the party’s growth,” Dr. Baryomunsi stated.

With a political career spanning since 2006, he highlighted his clean record in public service and thanked President Yoweri Museveni for maintaining peace across the country. He also urged the NRM government to enhance collaboration with local leaders at all levels.

Addressing rumors about the party’s future, Dr. Baryomunsi dismissed claims that the NRM would collapse after President Museveni’s exit from power.

“The NRM will continue to serve Uganda, with or without President Museveni in office. Let me make this clear—the party is here to stay,” he asserted.

Kiwanda Ssuubi vows unmatched loyalty to NRM

Meanwhile, Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, the current NRM Vice Chairman for the Central Region (Buganda) and Chairman of the National Consultative Forum, is also contesting for a CEC position representing the Central Region.

Kiwanda, a former State Minister for Tourism and Wildlife and a three-term MP for Mityana North, emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the NRM.

“My discipline, knowledge, and respect for party structures are unmatched,” he declared.

He also highlighted his contributions, including promoting the Rolex Festival, a campaign that elevated Uganda’s popular street food delicacy.

Both leaders expressed confidence in securing victory in the upcoming CEC elections, pledging to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilization and governance strategies.
