The aftermath of the popular Ekitudha 2025 concert has taken an unexpected turn as Ugandan artist Dax Vibez remains in police custody at Jinja Central Police Station (CPS) following an alleged assault incident involving a local resident.
The Ekitudha concert, organized annually by Baba Media Group, was held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Jinja City.
The event, known for showcasing the country’s top musical and comedic talent, attracted large crowds and was successfully managed by joint security forces.
After performing at the event, Dax Vibez and fellow artist Mikie Wine departed Jinja City for Kampala. However, their journey took a detour when they stopped at Shell Ambercourt, a petrol station located within the city.
While at the station, a heated altercation reportedly erupted between Mikie Wine’s entourage and Ibra Hussein, a resident of Jinja.
The cause of the dispute remains unclear, but according to police, it escalated quickly, drawing the attention of onlookers.
In a commendable move to avoid further confrontation, both parties agreed to proceed to Jinja CPS in an attempt to settle the matter peacefully.
At the station, officers from the conflict resolution desk tried to mediate between the two sides.
However, the situation led to formal complaints being lodged. Ibra Hussein accused Mikie Wine of assault, while Mikie Wine countered by filing a malicious damage complaint against Hussein.
Both individuals were later released on police bond as investigations commenced.
The situation took another dramatic turn when Dax Vibez allegedly physically assaulted Ibra Hussein while still at the station. The alleged assault led to a fresh charge being filed against the artist, resulting in his detention.
Police have since launched a prosecution-guided investigation into the series of events that unfolded both at Shell Ambercourt and at Jinja CPS.
Authorities have already begun reviewing CCTV footage from the petrol station and the police premises to determine what exactly transpired.
“Our officers are handling this matter with the seriousness it deserves,” said an official from Jinja CPS. “We are collecting all necessary evidence to ensure that justice is served.”
In response to the incident, police issued a public advisory, urging all public figures especially artists and celebrities to exercise restraint and treat others with dignity.
“Artists have a major influence on society, especially the youth. We expect them to set a good example by avoiding violence and conflict,” the statement read.
Police encouraged entertainers and their teams to manage tensions professionally and to seek lawful avenues of dispute resolution.
