Amolatar| Police at Etam Outpost have Okello Joe, also known as Okello Agal, in custody for a domestic violence case.
Acen Susan Okello, a councillor from Etam town council to Amolatar district council, stated that Okello, a resident of Atedingo cell, returned home on Sunday around 11 p.m.
When he arrived home, he developed a misunderstanding with his wife.
According to the local leader, Okello’s wife told her that she only served her husband boiled cassava without any sauce when he got home.
Okello quickly jumped on his wife and beat her for “what a supper!”
Okello fought his wife to the point of demolishing part of their semi permanent house.
According to Acen, Okello has been trying to sell their house and was planning to take the proceeds to Nwoya to settle with his second wife.
“I confirmed with the wife that the husband (Okello) wants to sell their house and escape to Nwoyo with his new catch, the second wife.”
The councillor urged men who are harassing women in her community to stop because they are making women’s lives difficult.
“While men drink and then beat women at home, women are struggling for their children and the welfare of the family.”
She also urged clean leaders to take their time and punish such men.
