Late last month, the YALI RLC alumni chapter in Uganda celebrated ten years of significant community impact, shared goals, and transformational leadership.
The above celebration, held on May 31, 2025, at the Protea Hotel in Kampala, was met with laughter from the attendees.
During this celebration, Rebecca Akullu Olet, was recognised as the most outstanding alum in agriculture/agribusiness.
Rebecca is the CEO of NEWA Farms Limited, based in Barapwo, Lira City. The company is involved in beekeeping and coffee farming.
NEWA Farms, under her stewardship, produces, processes, and packs bee products such as honey and beeswax, as well as bee-based cosmetics.
Speaking to tndNews on June 2, Rebecca said: “It’s a great milestone for the over 5000 women we have trained in modern beekeeping practices and skilling.”
The recognition, she added, “Shows how good they have worked, the award goes to them. I am because they are.”
She emphasised that the award will be a testament to other people who would want to support our women beekeepers.
Olet revealed that they are doing great work and deserve the support: be in capacity building, or investment opportunities.
