1,187 students in Amolatar ‘graduate’ as patriots

Amolatar| Following their participation in patriotism training, 66 students from Namasale Seed Secondary School and 1,121 students from Namasale Technical Institute graduated on June 9, 2025.

The inaugural graduation ceremony took place at Namasale Technical Institute in Amolatar.

In an interview with tndNews shortly after the event, Namasale Technical Institute principal Canon Moses Ogwal Owiny expressed appreciation for the patriotism training.

He acknowledged that it had improved their discipline and promised to continue practicing these values.

Pamela, the headmistress of Namasale Seed Secondary School, added that the program was timely, coinciding with the start of the second term. She emphasized the students’ commitment to staying physically fit.

Joseph Obete, the district coordinator for patriotism, stated that the students were trained in a variety of subjects, including patriotism, discipline, the role of youth, communication skills, political history, and HIV/AIDS awareness, among others.

Major Francis Balmoi Abang, the political commissar of the 5th Infantry Division at Achol Pii Army Barracks, urged the graduates to love their country, emphasizing that the future of Uganda is in their hands.

True love for one’s country, he added, is shown not only by words but also by a readiness to make sacrifices for it.

Major Abang also thanked the RDC’s office and the regional coordinator for ensuring that the training program ran smoothly.

Sarah Tyan, Amolatar’s Assistant RDC, encouraged students to use their newly acquired skills and knowledge to support government initiatives.

MP Moses Junior Okot, who attended the graduation, donated shs400,000 to students from both schools.

Ocen Geoffrey, chairperson of Amolatar LC5, expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for endorsing the program, describing it as a vital initiative that instills patriotism in students.

He urged the students to return to their communities and help make them better places.

Pre-passout activities included tree planting, parade marching, and preserving tradition through a cultural gala.

Attendees included Namasale town council mayor Otoo Goddy, Namasale sub-county LC3 chairperson; Namasale Technical Institute Board of Governors members, and parents.
