Judith Alyek, a Kole district woman member of Parliament, recently donated a set of uniforms bearing her name to the Barodwong football team as a show of community support.
They play in the district football association’s lower league (5th division).
This is not the first time politicians have supported the Barodwong team. Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti, the Kole North MP, previously donated uniforms.
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Martin Odyek, the NRM party chairman of Okwero-dot sub-county and Alyek’s representative, advised the players to be disciplined and focused for a better future.
He also mentioned the importance of voting for politicians who support them.
Odyek encouraged the young talented football team to win games and improve their performance with the help of leaders.
He hopes that the team’s performances will improve.
The gesture delighted the team, which is well-known for its dedication and passion for the sport.
“We are extremely grateful to Hon. Judith Alyek for her generosity,” said Ray Ogwang, chairman of the Barodwong Football team.
“This donation will not only boost our team’s morale, but also increase our visibility on the pitch.”
He added, “We look forward to continuing our good work and proudly representing our community.”
The players were equally thrilled, expressing their appreciation and encouragement. “This gift from Hon. Judith Alyek inspires us to do even better,” said team captain Walter Onyao.
“We’re determined to make her proud and bring glory to our community.”
Sam Obol, a strong UPC member working with Judith Alyek, stated that the donation is expected to have a positive impact on the team, instilling a sense of unity and pride among the players.
Obol has endorsed Judith Alyek for the 2026 general election.
