The MP for Maurzi County in Apac district has donated shs6m to St. John Church of Uganda in Apac municipality to help suppress the debt incurred during the church house’s construction.
MP Maxwell Akora made his donation on Sunday, April 27, 2025, during a fundraising event held at St. John Church of Uganda, located in the Awiri parish, Apac Archdeaconry, West Lango Diocese.
As the chief guest, MP Akora, who has announced his intention to contest for Apac municipality MP seat in 2026, launched the fundraising drive aimed at constructing a new house for the servants of God.
The event was organized by the Awiri parish, Apac Archdeaconry and involved six different churches.

MP Akora emphasized the importance of combining spiritual guidance with practical efforts to enhance the economic well-being of communities.
He expressed his satisfaction in witnessing the priest’s commitment to following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose mission encompassed preaching the gospel, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and working as a carpenter.
During the event, Rev. Tom Denis Okumo of Awiri Archdeaconry, acknowledged MP Akora’s presence and participation, noting that as servants of God, they serve as the voice for the voiceless.
He remarked that in his three years in the West Lango Diocese, he had not seen any other Members of Parliament attend church activities in person, which he deemed unfortunate, as a lack of commitment to God could jeopardize their political aspirations in the future.

“Let us embrace love for our nation, particularly for our local community and the voters who have placed their trust in us.
“We are dedicated to serving God, and I pray for the safe journey of MP Maxwell Akora, wishing him good health as he pursues his political aspirations,” he told the congregation.
“May God protect him and help him achieve his goals,” Rev. Okumo affect, while encouraging Christians to elect leaders who support them during church events.
During the ceremony, Mayor of Apac municipality Patrick Ongom Eyul urged Christians to show love for their servants of God, including their elected officials.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on agriculture as we strive to eradicate poverty in our community.
Eyul called for strong cooperation in the upcoming general election, advocating for discipline, respect, and love among one another, regardless of political affiliations.
