Mentor SS beat Lira Town College to reach the USSSA final

Mentor SS advanced to the USSSA football final for Lira City on Monday, defeating Lira Town College 4-2 in a penalty shootout.

The game ended goalless after 90 minutes. Mentor SS went undefeated throughout the group stage.

Another game, the semi-finals between Dr Obote College (DOC) and King James, was cut short due to heavy rain.

When it was 18 minutes to 90 minutes and DOC was leading 1-0, the match referee called it off.

The remaining (18 minutes) were moved to Tuesday, March 18 in the morning.

How did the teams reach the semifinals and finals?

King James defeated Light Vocational (5-4) on penalties following a 1:1 draw in normal time.

They (King) led in the first half before giving up a goal on a counterattack in the second half to tie the game 1-1.

Mentor SS defeated Faith SS 1-0 in another quarterfinals to advance to the semi-finals. Desmond Odur scored the sole goal.

Dr Obote College advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Tasha SS 4-0 in a game held at Anai Primary School’s playground.

Lira Town College advanced to the semi-finals with a 1-0 win over Lira City Comprehensive.
