PDM in Lango: Museveni orders rearrest of corrupt officials

There have been several allegations of corruption since the Parish Development Model (PDM) was implemented in Uganda, and the Lango sub-region in particular.

Since then, police have arrested dozens of PDM officials for the vice. Some have been brought before a court and granted bail.

In addition, some were arrested and later released on police bond.

PDM aims to eliminate household poverty by transitioning families to the “money economy.”

During his recent tour of Lango to assess PDM and preach wealth creation, President Museveni met with various beneficiaries and promised to help them.

A few days after concluding his Lango tour, Museveni directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to act.

“I read a report written by the late Oluka on the 25th of January, 2025, regarding the corrupt officials in Lango who were extorting money from the PDM beneficiaries. They were arrested but were released on Police Bond.

“Today, 2nd February, I have directed the IGP to cancel those police bonds and make sure that they are tried. Any official who does not do his duty in prosecuting those thieves (suspected) will be held accountable.

“I saw the report after coming back from Lango.”

Kole district has had a number of corruption-related PDM cases, with one prominent figure, the acting CDO of Aboke town council, being arrested last year.

Emyooga program in Kole district has also been misused, according to a report published by this publication in 2021.
