Last week, the UPDF, Uganda Police, and Uganda Prison in Adjumani district cleaned the Adjumani General Hospital, the main market, and the entire street.
Captain Simon Mbanajo, the 501 Brigade Commander, stated that they wanted to demonstrate to civilians how important they have been since defeating the LRA rebels.
The cleaning was done in preparation for the 44th Tarehe Sita celebration.
“It was the day when the revolutionists began at Kabamba with twenty-seven (27) guns, then with more guns, and entered the bush,” said Capt Simon.
“So, today is to give back to the community, to collaborate with them, and to demonstrate to them how important they have been, to commemorate and celebrate alongside the civilians,” he said.
Iranya Ronald, a medical worker in Adjumani, praised the UPDF and other sister security forces for their great initiative in cleaning the hospital. He stated that the cleaning has improved the facility’s sanitation.
“I would like to thank the UPDF and other security forces for cleaning the Adjumani General Hospital. Iranya stated that the staff and patients were uplifted because they had never seen such activity here before.
“This will not only improve the hospital’s sanitation, but it will also foster hope and strengthen the relationship between civilians and men in uniform,” she added.

Similarly, Odua Christine Hwenyia, a business operator in Adjumani’s main market, thanked the officers and applauded President Museveni.
“Today, I am very happy to see the UPDF, police, and prison officers with’stars and ropes,’ including the RDC of Adjumani district, sweeping our streets, market, and hospital,” exclaimed Odua.

“I want to thank the President for allowing our leaders to participate in volunteer work; this shows that we are equal.”
Data Peter, the Resident District Commissioner of Adjumani Taban, stated that the idea behind cleaning the town was to show the people that the NRM government’s security operatives are for the people and to demonstrate solidarity among themselves.
“Today’s exercise is to show the people that the NRM government’s security officers are for them, as well as to demonstrate solidarity between the people and the forces,” said RDC.
