Lira Chief Magistrate Joe Fay Adoko has granted Awio Isaac, aka Awio scrap dealer, and his six accomplices (bouncers), court bail.
The suspects appeared before the Chief Magistrate Court in Lira on January 8, 2025.
Chief Magistrate granted bail to Awio and his boys following their January 3 assault on Walter Ogwang aka Lil Square and further causing damage to his car Reg: UAU 045Q.
The territorial police in Lira, on January 3, 2025, registered a disturbing incident where local artist Ogwang Walter, alias Lil Square, was allegedly assaulted and his vehicle maliciously damaged.
According to North Kyoga Police PRO, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the suspects, led by Awio Isaac, allegedly demanded money from Ogwang before hiring six bouncers to carry out the “assumed smart attack” in broad daylight on Obote Avenue in Lira City.
According to eyewitnesses, Awio and his accomplices parked their vehicle in front of Ogwang’s white Toyota Max 2 Grand and then assaulted him.
They also caused damage to the vehicle’s front windshield.
The six bouncers are Eric Odyeny, David Arok, Bonny Acai, Ronald Okumu, Ambrose Omara, and Elvis Okoo.
The subsequent court hearing of this case was scheduled for January 16, 2025.
Similarly, the national Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kitume issued a stern warning on Thursday, January 2, 2025, following numerous altercations between various groups of musicians over the New Year.
The warning states that police have observed a trend among musicians who are using gangs to intimidate one another, resulting in disorder and chaos at public events and entertainment functions.
Rusoke says police have begun an investigation and warns that all those involved will be arrested and prosecuted in court.
