CFI and partners to distribute wheelchairs in Acholi, Lango, and Teso

Lira | Community Focus International (CFI) is pleased to announce the distribution of 84 wheelchairs in the districts of Kaberamaido, Omoro, and Oyam, as part of a program aimed at improving mobility and quality of life for people with physical disabilities.

The initiative is made possible by World Vision’s generous funding and the support of well-wishers who have banded together to make a real difference in these communities.

The wheelchair distribution program is part of CFI’s larger mission to promote inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities in Uganda.

Many people in rural areas face significant challenges because they lack access to mobility aids, which limits their ability to engage in daily activities, seek employment, or participate in educational opportunities.

Individuals with mobility impairments will receive 84 wheelchairs, increasing their independence and quality of life.

CFI has worked closely with World Vision, an international humanitarian organization, to identify individuals in need and coordinate the delivery of wheelchairs to the most underserved populations in Kaberamaido, Omoro, and Oyam. Furthermore, contributions from well-wishers have been critical in enabling this initiative.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from World Vision and the generosity of our well-wishers,” said Mr. Ponsiano Coda, CFI’s Program Manager. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to creating a more inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, has the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.”

The districts chosen for this program were determined by their need for mobility aids and the accessibility challenges that residents with disabilities face. Many families in these regions face economic and geographical barriers to accessing medical supplies and mobility devices, making this program an important step toward promoting independence and dignity for those affected.

A future of inclusion

The wheelchair distribution is just one example of CFI’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity. As part of its long-term goals, CFI continues to advocate for greater accessibility, educational opportunities, and healthcare for people with disabilities.

CFI hopes to improve physical mobility while also promoting social inclusion, allowing individuals to contribute more fully to their communities.

A call for continued support

CFI’s efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities are dependent on the ongoing support of donors, partners, and the local community.

The organization encourages more supporters to get involved and contribute to future projects that will make an even greater difference in the lives of vulnerable people.

As CFI moves forward with this distribution program, the organization remains committed to creating a society in which everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to succeed.
