Lira |In his preliminary post-Christmas security updates on Thursday, the North Kyoga Region Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, stated that “Christmas was well celebrated.”
He also stated that the North Kyoga Region had “no incident that antagonized the general security situation.”
“However, we registered some few isolated cases amongst which includes;
“3 fatal accidents in Lira City at Gweng-Abara along Lira-Soroti highway where Odong Emmanuel was knocked dead by a trailer Reg. No. KCM 493R/ZE1216, driven by Muhammad Bashir.
Odong waa riding motorcycle with Reg. No. UFB 355H and *Opio was injured and rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
Another two in Oyam district: a hit and run at Aleny area along Gulu-Kamdini highway and Lira-Kamdini highway at Wirao trading center, respectively. Okwir Elvis, 17 years old was knocked and injured by motor vehicle Reg. No. SSD 622Q/SSD 552H.
“We also registered a suspected murder by assault in Aloi sub-county, where one Opio John Kennedy was allegedly killed by Omara Patrick on allegations of having love affairs with his wife, Ateng Janet.”
