Lira City Council loses a friendly game to Blacks Power

Lira |The Regional League team lost a friendly derby match played on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira City.

On Saturday, October 26, four days after a 2:1 loss, Lira City Council FC began their 2024/5 Regional League campaign.

The ‘build up match’ was organized to give both teams a proper test against each other ahead of their home matches on Saturday.

In the Big League, Blacks Power FC hosted Kataka FC, while in the Regional League, their Lira City counterparts’ earlier schedule against Red Devo FC was postponed to Saturday, November 2.

All regional league games were postponed and will be played next weekends, tndNews understands.

Last week, Lira City Council Football Club unveiled its 27-man squad for the season.

Dan Ogwal Engwedo was announced as the Head Coach, as were players such as Oyee Philimon, Okello Samuel Moses, Opio Daniel, Onen Solomon, Ayo Emma, Opio Dante Okeng Emmanuel, Ocero Danel, Shafic Shaban, Olwoch Emma, and Okello Ronald.

Meanwhile, Blacks Power broke the deadlock just a few minutes into the game with a well-hit ball from Yasin Majid.

Lira City Council equalised in the first half through Roland Okello.

Unfortunately for them, Philip Taban came off the bench to score the Blacks’ winning goal!
