Intelligence

Lira | Oluk Samuel, a suspect, is being sought in connection with his son Isaac Oluk’s murder in Lira district.

Lira City East Division police are also actively investigating other family members involved in Oluk’s alleged homicide.

In an interview with tndNews, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO of North Kyoga Region, Oluk Isaac was reportedly tied to a tree and brutally assaulted at their home in Apikongo village, Olilo parish, Itek sub-County, Lira district.

SP Okema stated that the deceased’s sister, Atala Agnes, 28, had reported the incident to Abolet police.

On September 5, 2024, at approximately 1:08 p.m., Atala, Oluk’s biological sister, filed a complaint about an assault involving herself and other family members. She claimed Oluk had been aggressive towards them, which she blamed on substance abuse and addiction.

“Following this, she received notification that her brother had been restrained and attacked by family members, prompting her to seek police assistance for his safety,” the PRO stated.

An officer from the Obolet police post was dispatched to Apikongo village to assist the victim. When they arrived, Oluk was seriously injured.

“The family was advised to obtain medical care, and the police accompanied them to Barr Health Center IV. However, Oluk’s condition deteriorated during the examination, necessitating a transfer to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for more comprehensive care.

“Instead, the family chose to go to a nearby clinic, where he was declared dead upon arrival.”

A murder investigation has been officially launched, and statements have been obtained from the deceased’s father, relatives, and clan leaders.

SP Okema stated that the case file has been forwarded to the Lira City East Division for further proceedings.

The primary suspects in the murder have been identified as his father, Oluk Samuel, a close relative named Ojuka, and his sister, Atala Agnes, all of whom are currently evading police officers.

The remaining family members have expressed their disagreement with the situation, according to Okema.
